Email: parley@nbarwicki.com
One person reads this inbox. Expect a reply within 2 business days.
To get a useful answer faster, include:
- what you were doing when it went wrong (voice intake, generating a Brief, restoring a purchase…);
- what you expected, and what happened instead;
- your iOS version and iPhone model;
- please don't paste the private details of your situation — a description of the failure is enough, and it keeps your own content out of email.
Report a bad or harmful response
Parley generates text with AI, and AI gets things wrong. If a Brief was harmful, abusive, dangerously wrong, or pushed you toward manipulating someone — please report it. It is the single most useful thing you can send.
Email parley@nbarwicki.com with the subject line REPORT, and include:
- roughly what you asked for (no need for the private specifics);
- what Parley said back that was wrong or harmful — a screenshot is ideal;
- what you would have expected instead.
Reports are read within 2 business days and are used to fix the safety rules and prompts. If a response suggested self-harm or harm to another person, say so in the first line and it will be treated as urgent.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number. Parley is not an emergency service and cannot get help to you.
Common questions
Can I use Parley without analytics?
Yes. Anonymous usage analytics are optional and off until you enable them during onboarding or in Settings → Usage analytics. Turning them off does not affect Brief generation or your subscription.
Parley won't let me in without a subscription
That is by design: Parley Pro is required to generate Briefs. If you have already bought it — on this device or another with the same Apple ID — tap Restore purchases on the purchase screen, or open Settings → Restore purchases in the app. If restoring still fails, email the address above and mention which plan you bought and roughly when.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or via Manage subscription inside Parley. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
Deleting your data in the app, or deleting the app itself, does not cancel the subscription. You have to cancel it through Apple.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by the developer. Request one at https://reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I delete my data?
Settings → Delete Everything. This permanently removes, from your device: every conversation, Brief, Person, Pattern, draft, and debrief; every scheduled and delivered notification; your onboarding answers; and the random identifier the app uses with the backend, RevenueCat, and analytics. Parley returns to onboarding.
Two caveats, stated honestly:
- Your appearance (light/dark) preference is the one setting this does not reset.
- It does not cancel a subscription, and it cannot retrieve content already sent to the AI provider within the retention window described in the Privacy Policy.
Deleting the app also removes the local database.
Where is my data stored? Who sees what I write?
Your conversations, People, aliases, and Patterns are stored on your device. There is no Parley account and no Parley database of your content. To generate a Brief, the relevant text — and voice audio if you use voice intake — is sent over HTTPS to the AI provider (xAI) through a Cloudflare Worker.
xAI may retain inputs and outputs for up to 30 days for abuse auditing, and does not use them to train models. The full account of what is sent and who receives it is in the Privacy Policy.
Voice intake isn't working
Check that Parley has microphone permission in iOS Settings → Parley → Microphone. The app asks for it the first time you choose voice intake; if you declined then, you can grant it there and try again. You can always type instead. Transcription needs a network connection.
Notifications aren't arriving
Check iOS Settings → Parley → Notifications. Parley only schedules reminders for conversations you have scheduled yourself.
"The Brief service could not complete the request"
Usually a temporary network or provider problem — try again in a moment. Parley also enforces daily and per-minute request limits per device to keep the service running; if you have generated a lot of Briefs in a short time, wait and retry. If it persists across a day, email the address above.
Is Parley advice?
No. Parley is a preparation tool. It is not therapy, counselling, legal advice, HR representation, or medical advice, and AI suggestions can be wrong. Use your own judgement about what you say. See the Terms of Use.
Accessibility
Parley supports Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, and light/dark appearance. If something is unreachable or unreadable with your settings, that is a bug worth reporting — email the address above.
